Chengdu is the capital city of the Chinese province of Sichuan. Chengdu is in central Sichuan. The surrounding Chengdu Plain is known as the "Country of Heaven" and the "Land of Abundance." Its prehistoric settlers included the Sanxingdui culture. The site of Dujiangyan, an ancient irrigation system, is designated as a World Heritage Site. The Jin River flows through the city. Chengdu's culture largely reflects that of its province, Sichuan; in 2011, it was recognized by UNESCO as a city of gastronomy. It is associated with the giant panda, a Chinese national symbol, which inhabits the area of Sichuan; the city is home to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.
成都市位于中国四川省中部。成都是中国开发较早、持续繁荣时间较长的城市之一。据金沙遗址挖掘记录来看，成都建城史可以追溯到距今3200年前。成都曾是古蜀、成家、蜀汉、成汉、谯蜀、前蜀、后蜀、李蜀、大西九个政权的都城，三国文化丰富，秦汉以来，成都就以农业、手工业兴盛和文化发达著称，历代都是中国西南地区的政治、经济、文化、军事中心的重要城市。汉代成都与洛阳等并列为五大都会之一。唐代商贸繁荣，与扬州齐名，称为“扬一益二”。成都拥有都江堰、武侯祠、杜甫草堂、金沙遗址等名胜古迹，是首批国家历史文化名城，十大古都之一，2007年被中华人民共和国国家旅游局与世界旅游组织命名为“中国最佳旅游城市”。2009年，世界优秀旅游目的地城市中心授予成都“世界优秀旅游目的地城市”称号，成都是亚洲首个获此殊荣的城市。2010年，联合国教科文组织批准成都加入联合国教科文组织的全球创意城市网络，授予成都“美食之都”称号，成为亚洲首个“美食之都”。
