Yunnan/ Kunming 云南/昆明
Yunnan is an inland province in Southwestern China. The capital of the province is Kunming. The province borders the Chinese provinces of Guizhou, Sichuan, autonomous regions of Guangxi and Tibet, as well as Southeast Asian countries Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar. Yunnan is China's fourth least developed province based on disposable income per capita in 2014.
Yunnan is situated in a mountainous area, with high elevations in the Northwest and low elevations in the Southeast. Most of the population lives in the eastern part of the province. In the west, the altitude can vary from the mountain peaks to river valleys as much as 3,000 m (9,800 ft). Yunnan is rich in natural resources and has the largest diversity of plant life in China. Of the approximately 30,000 species of higher plants in China, Yunnan has perhaps 17,000 or more.
云南省，简称云或滇，因清代境内有迤东道、迤西道、迤南道三迤，故又简称迤，是中华人民共和国西南部边疆地区的省份，云南动植物种类数为全国之冠，素有“动植物王国”之称，被誉为“有色金属王国”，历史文化悠久，自然风光绚丽，是人类文明重要发祥地之一。云南历史代表文化为“滇文化”。云南是直立人重要的活动地之一，生活在距今170万年前的云南元谋猿人，是迄今为止发现的中国乃至亚洲最早的直立人。
